Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

At Canadian FAIT Foundation, we believe technology can help us work more efficiently, communicate more clearly, and focus more of our time on the people and communities we serve. This includes the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI).
We also believe that AI should support people — not replace human judgment, mislead our community, or compromise anyone's privacy.
How We Use AI
Canadian FAIT Foundation may use AI tools to assist with tasks such as brainstorming, drafting, editing, summarizing information, organizing ideas, and creating or refining communications and materials.
AI may help us create, but a person remains responsible for what we publish.
Content created with the assistance of AI is reviewed by a person before it is posted or shared publicly on behalf of Canadian FAIT Foundation. We do not rely on AI alone to make decisions about what we communicate to our community.
Human Review and Accountability
We remain accountable for the information we publish, regardless of whether AI helped in its creation.
Our team reviews AI-assisted content for accuracy, appropriateness, tone, and alignment with Canadian FAIT Foundation's values before publication. AI-generated suggestions are treated as drafts or tools — not as final authority.
We Do Not Use AI to Deceive
Canadian FAIT Foundation will not knowingly use AI to impersonate a real person, create false interactions, or mislead people into believing they are communicating with a person when they are actually interacting with an AI system.
We will not use AI-generated content, images, audio, or other materials with the intention of deceiving, manipulating, or misleading our community.
If an AI system is ever used to interact directly with members of our community, we believe people should be able to understand that they are interacting with AI.
Protecting Personal Information
We do not intentionally provide personal information about the people we serve, our donors, families, volunteers, employees, or other members of our community to generative AI tools for the purpose of generating content.
Personal information should not be copied, uploaded, or entered into AI tools unless the tool and its use have been specifically approved for handling that information in accordance with Canadian FAIT Foundation's privacy and security requirements and applicable Canadian privacy laws.
We expect anyone using AI on behalf of Canadian FAIT Foundation to protect confidential and personal information just as they would when using any other technology.
Our Principles
Our use of AI is guided by four simple principles:
People remain responsible. AI can assist our work, but people review and take responsibility for what we publish.
Privacy comes first. Personal and confidential information must be protected when AI tools are used.
We are transparent. We do not present AI as a person or intentionally misrepresent AI-generated material as authentic human interaction.
AI must serve our mission. We use AI when it can help us do our work better — never simply because the technology is available.
Our Commitment
Artificial intelligence will continue to evolve, and so will the ways organizations use it. Canadian FAIT Foundation will periodically review our approach to AI and update this policy as technology, best practices, and Canadian privacy requirements evolve.
Our goal is simple: use AI thoughtfully, protect the people who trust us, and keep people accountable for the work we put into the world.
